William Crockett was born about 1780. His parents were John and Rebecca Hawkins Crockett. His parents lived in Washington County, Greene County, and Jefferson County, when he was a youth. He was an older brother of David Crockett of Alamo fame. William married Rebecca Elliott in Jefferson County, Tennesse on 3 February 1803. They lived in Jefferson County for a while and then moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. William was on the United States Federal Censuses in Lincoln County in 1820 and 1830. Rebecca was head of her household living with 4 daughters in Shelby County, Illinois in 1840. Ther daughter Sarah W. Crockett married Joseph Blythe on 4 August 1831 and they are said to have moved to Shelby County, Illinois in 1833. Son Elliot had gotten a land grant in Shelby in 1839 so the family moved to Shelby from Lincoln about 1839. It appears that all the children of Wiliam and Rebecca moved to Shelby County. In 1840 Rebecca is listed living in Shelby County, Illinois with 4 fermales (daughters) and no males so evidently William died before the 1840 census. In 1850 Rebecca was the head of the household and living with her daughter Mary. William had died either in Lincoln County, Tennessee before 1839 or in Shelby before the census in 1840. Rebecca died in 1854 in Shelby County, Illinois
