Today, Monday, the fourteenth day of July, One Thousand Six hundred Sixty One, at Chateau Richer, by verbal order of Monsieur the Governor, we, Jean Cochon, tax collector in the coast and manor of Beaupre, aided by our clerk,

have taken inventory of the property and possessions remaining after the decease of the late Louis Gasnier,

represented to us through Marie Michel, widow of said Louis Gasnier

and estimated by Sir Francois Bellanger and Julien Fortin, Lord in part of the said coast and manor.

Item: Declared that the widow has ten minots (39 liters = 1 minot) of grain (wheat) left as food for her and her children until the next harvest.

Item: All possessions have been left with the widow to produce them on demand. She has been approved and guaranteed for this by Claude Bouchard, son-in-law of the late Louis Gasnier and said widow. For this, each shall be responsible for all their possessions and inheritances, present and future and those of their heirs.

In the presence of Simon Guion, living in said manor and Annet Villain, called LaMeneyre as witnesses.

Marie doit survivre malgré l’horreur de l'assassinat de son mari par les Iroquois. Elle se remarie avec Paul de Rainville, un veuf, père de 5 enfants et huissier de la seigneurie de Notre-Dame-des-Anges. À la fin de sa vie, Marie reviendra vivre chez sa fille , à Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, pour y mourir. C’était en 1687.

Loose translation of above: Marie must survive in spite of the horror of l' assassination of his/her husband by Iroquois. It remarie with Paul de Rainville, a widower, father of 5 children and usher of the seigniory of Our-Lady-of-Angels. At the end of her life, Marie will return to live in her daughter, with Co.-Anne-of-Bowsprit, to die there. It was in 1687



Married: 1 SEP 1666 in Beauport, Quebec County, P. Q.


Some sources show "Montmorency" as a county. "Montmorency" did not exist as a county until 1829. Therefore it was removed.

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré was a parrish in Beaupré since 1657. It was established as a city in 1845.

Elle a épousé Louis Gagné le 11 juin 1638, à Saint-Martin-du-Vieux-Bellême, Perche, France. Ils ont eu au moins 5 fils et 3 filles. Elle est décédée le 11 novembre 1687, à Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Québec, Canada, Nouvelle-France, à l’âge de 72 ans, et a été enterrée à Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Québec, Canada, Nouvelle-France.
