About Eva Carrington
Biography
Eva Carrington, the stage name of Evelyn Victoria Anne Chandler, was born before 12 June 1887 in London, Middlesex, England, and died there on 25 January 1979. She was the daughter of Walter Robert Chandler (later Carrington) and his wife Louisa Brown.
Evelyn was an actress, model and sometime peeress.

Carrington was born Evelyn Chandler in London, the daughter of Anglo-Irish Walter Robert Chandler, a messenger and hall porter at the Walsingham House Hotel, Piccadilly, sometime orderly room clerk to Colonel Fred Burnaby. Her mother, Louisa, was a theatre attendant. By 1891, the family were using "Carrington" as their surname.[1][4][5]
Her sister, Gladys Winifred Carrington Chandler, married Royal Air Force Flight Lieutenant Christopher Humphrey Tancred (1888-1972), grandson of Sir Thomas Tancred, 7th Baronet, a philanthropist and early colonist of Canterbury, New Zealand; their son was the actor Anthony Tancred (1930-1995).[6]
Modelling career
Eva was a model for the artist James Whistler between 1898 and 1902. She posed for a number of Whistler's paintings and drawings, e.g. "A dancing woman in a pink robe, seen from the back", "The Tambourine","Eva and Gladys Carrington seated on a sofa" and "The Bead Stringers" .
Stage career
Eva became a renowned actress during the Edwardian period. A famous role was as one of the “Gibson Girls” in the British theatre performance of "The Catch of the Season."
Marriages
Eva married Jack Southwell Russell, 25th Baron de Clifford, in February 1906. She adopted the title Lady de Clifford. This marriage, of a commoner and showgirl to a senior peer, created a scandal at the time.[13]
Following her first husband's death, she married Captain Arthur Roy Stock of Glenapp Castle, Ayrshire, in 1913; he died in 1915.[14] In 1922, Eva married George Vernon Tate, grandson of the founder of the Tate Gallery.[15]
She had several children, and the only son, the eldest child, Edward Southwell Russell, succeeded to the de Clifford barony.[3] A colour photographic portrait of her and her four daughters by Yevonde taken in 1932 is in the National Portrait Gallery in London.

When handsome Eva Carrington won the dashing young Lord de Clifford she was not quite nineteen - at least, so declared the many articles written about her and was one of the most famous of the many Gibson girls then on the stage. That she was not consumed by eagerness to enter the social' realms to which her new title was to prove the open sesame, was shown by the fact that she gladly consented to a six months' honeymoon in Abyssinia. When she returned home to assume the many social duties awaiting her, she speedily developed into a model country grande dame. Evelyn Victoria Chandler - that was her real name met John Southwell Russell, Lord de Clifford, at a little dinner in Dublin, and the two were victims of a bad case of love at first sight. The wedding took place February 16, 1906, Lord de Clifford will not settle down as a model Irish landlord, perhaps, for a number of years. The spirit of" wanderlust " is in his blood: he is a great traveler, and his wife is no less enthusiastic in that direction. During her residence on Lord de Clifford's Irish estate the former Bctress has become an expert rider to hounds,

MRS. RAOUL T. LLOYD-DOLBEY. Patricia Stock's mother, Mrs. Vernon Tate, was one of the original "Gibson Girls," but when Miss Stock married she went all the day back to medieval times for inspiration for the charming wedding frock she is seen wearing. She became the bride of Raoul T. Lloyd-Dolbey at St. Paul’s, Knightsbridge on March 26. [1936]
