About Björn Wahlroos
Björn Arne Christer Wahlroos (1952-) is the Chairman of the Board and a major stockholder in Nordea Bank, Sampo Group, and UPM-Kymmene. Because of his position of three major companies, he has been quoted as the King of Helsinki Stock Exchange. However, more often than not, he is known as "Nalle" (Teddy Bear) due to his name Björn meaning a bear.
Wahlroos is known as a colorful and outspoken character, and in terms of political economy viewpoint, he is known as a defender of laissez-faire economics, and as a fighter against Keynesian economics. Also, he has supported Citizen's salary and taken a stand against Goverment subsidiaries. His Mansion in Salo is also a farm, making him a farmer. And, with a farmers' benefits he says: "This year I got €400,000 in subsidiaries, none of which I need."
