Hope this clears up some confusion.

William Keith 4th Earl of Marischal married Margaret, the daughter of William Keith of Inverugie. Two of thier children are of Importance here, William and Margaret.

1. William Keith, their son. He married Elizabeth Hay the daughter of George Hay the 6th Earl of Errol.
They are often in trees listed as the parents of this Williams sister, Margaret Keith, who is listed as child 2.

Now, this William who married Elizabeth Hay. THEY had a daughter that THEY named Margaret Keith. THIS Margaret married William Keith of Ludquhaim.

2. Margaret Keith, daughter of William the 4th Earl of Marischal and Margaret, SISTER of William child number 1.

This Margaret Married in 1569, John Kennedy of Blairquhan.

You can find this in the book I attached, or if you go to Google Books and type in , William Keith, 4th Earl Marischal, you will find other books that say the same.

Then to add more confusion, John Kennedy of Blairquhan, who married Margaret Keith in 1569, the daughter of William Keith the 4th Earl of Marischal, had a son that THEY named John. So he is also called, John Kennedy of Blairquhan. THIS John married the daughter of Andrew Stuart the 1st Baron Stuart 1560-1629 and his wife, Margaret Kennedy 1569-1627, she was the daughter of John Kennedy of Blairquhan 1535-? and his wife Margaret Keith 1549-1624, again, the daughter of William Keith the Earl 4th Earl of Marischal. Their daughters name, Who married John was Mary(Maria). Their was a marriage contract in 1615
