Are these the same Gershom Moore? But with one showing the birthday and death date of his son Gershom.

Gershom Moore

Yes. it looks like the various Gershom Moore's are getting shmooshed together, because there is no clear distinction in records on which one was who.

If I follow the scenarios outlined at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Moore-5189 correctly (no certainty, few documented dates):

  • John1 Moore (b 1611 England -d 1657 Middleburgh) m. Margaret Howell; children include
    • Gershom2 (John1) Moore (b Newtown 1639 - d 1691 New Jersey) m. 1633 to Mary, perhaps the widow of Jonathan Fish. 2 children:
      • Gershom3 (Gershom2, John1) Moore (b 1670 Newtown - d 1722 Maidenhead) m. 1708 Mercy Furman; she m 2) Thomas Burroughs.
        • Gershom4 (Gershom3, Gershom2, John1) Moore (b 1709 Hunterdon-1752) m Rachel Islee
      • Jonathan3 (Gershom2, John1) Moore (b 1670 Newtown - ) m. unknown
        • Margaret4 (Jonathan3, Gershom2, John1) Moore (b ca 1694 - ) John Hunt; resided at Hopewell, N.J.
        • Gershom4 (Jonathan3, Gershom2, John1) Moore (b ca 1698 - ) m. Deborah Betts 5 February 1720/1

Disambiguating the Gershoms

The present Gershom3 Moore appeared in municipal roles through 1704. What happened after that is murky. Provided the above assumptions hold, we will argue below that there are essentially only three reasonable possibilities, listed here in order of likelihood:

  • Gershom3 died sometime after 1704. Both he and his brother Jonathan had sons named Gershom. One of them died at Maidenhead, New Jersey in 1722, leaving a will dated April 1722, while the other married Deborah Betts in 1721 and resided at Newtown for a while afterward.
  • (less likely) Gershom3 died at Maidenhead, New Jersey in 1722. He had at that time a young son named Gershom. Brother Jonathan also had a son Gershom, who was the man who married Deborah Betts in 1721 and resided at Newtown for a while afterward.
  • (less likely) Only one of Gershom3 or Jonathan3 had a son Gershom. This son died at Maidenhead in 1722, while the elder Gershom married a much younger Deborah Betts in 1721.

Next step is to disambiguate the Gershom's and then look for dups.

Managers of Mercy Burroughs,

I am contacting you about this profile: Mercy Burroughs

Isn't this Mercy Moore attached to the wrong Gershom Moore?

Mightn't she be married to this Gerhsom Morre instead? Gershom Moore

And could the Gershom Moore listed as her husband be her son instead?

Just asking.
