I see that the birth name of Molly Picon keeps being changed back to Opiekun. In her book "So Laugh a Little," Molly Picon vocalizes the name as "Pye-koon." The Hamburg passenger list of Molly's grandmother and aunts and uncle show the name was "Pikun." In Beider's "A Dictionary of Jewish Surnames from the Russian Empire," the name Pekin is a variation of Peknyj, meaning "beautiful." Opiekun is not in Beider's book.
