I just finished a week of researching the Stricklers based on the research of multiple publications and genealogists. There is no evidence that he had the middle name Lohrer and it is even debated if his mother had the maiden surname Lohrer. This and much other research, with sources, is available at http://family.beacondeacon.com/strickler.htm
Most English folks in that time period did not have middle names. It is a carry-over from paper genealogy that some would stick the mother's surname in as a middle name to help with so many common names ... but on most of the better online genealogies (such as Geni), such a convention is mostly unnecessary --- and not genealogically accurate.
