I might have been only 2 years old but I remember the event well. Since I was rarely taken out on long trips and getting all dressed up my mother impressed on me I was going to see my great grandmother. I was not happy to leave the home, being so young and sheltered but my mom kept saying it was rare and something to treasure later to have met my great grandmother. I really did not understand much at 2. It was a long trip as there were no big highways, just normal streets and I remember we had to cross a bridge, a rickety old bridge made of wood planks. We got there and I met Great Grandma Taussig. The problem is she had bowls of pills and I thought they were candy. So I am one of the kids that overdosed because they got into medicine. They took me to Beth Israel Hospital and my stomach was pumped. I do not remember that part, my dad told me about that. I do remember being in the back of the car late at night going back over that bridge (my father actually praying we would make it in our old car over the planks). The rest is too fuzzy. I wish I had known her more because her daughters were a delight and the whole Taussig clan amazing, supportive, and a real family. Proud to be part of this family.
