It seems that the Konskie records contained on JRI-Poland are incomplete and sparse.

I was wondering:

1. Is there any other searchable resource with vital records?
2. Are there any active projects to index and extract Konskie records for inclusion on JRI-Poland?
3. Is there any way to get notified when new information is added to JRI-Poland?

Hi Dovid,

Good to hear from you.

JRI-Poland is a separately funded and controlled organization that is hosted by JewishGen and has no relationship with Geni.com.

You can obtain more information about the projects of JRI-Poland by joining JewishGen and JRI-Poland themselves.

I use YadVashem quite a lot for towns like this that do not have searchable records yet. At least you will see the population of Konskie as it was 80-100 years ago. The oldest person on yadvashem for a typical town is about 90 years old in say 1942. Giving a birth year of 1852.

You could try GenTeam. www.genteam.au

Hi Dovid,

A lot of what I used came directly from the print copies of these books. I purchased them when they came out but they are now available for free downloads.

Also, if you want to learn more about happenings in Konskie and nearby you can read some of the Wolf Lewkowicz collection.http://web.mit.edu/maz/wolf/

I have a significant amount of people from Konskie.

Dean

This site has many Konskie records: https://www.crarg.org/

Thanks for all the responses.

Dean Kagan - Is there an index of names for the journals or do i have to scan through them one by one?

You can obtain many records the following ways:
1) The civil records office aka in Polish Urzad Stanu Cywilnego, which I think only go back 100 years.

2) The regional Kielce archive has records older than 100 years.

3) Because Konskie was part of the Radom District in the past, you can also look there. Also, the Judenrat records for Konskie should be in the Radom archive bc Kinsk was subordinate to that Judenrat.

4) There is a partial ghetto register from Kinsk that I got from the ZIH in Warsaw. Depending upon what last names you are looking for, I can send it to you.

If there is more you would like to know then feel free to e-mail me at: mdpelta@yahoo.com

Hi Dovid,

JRI-Poland is in the middle of the full extraction of Konskie records, which also includes scans of all available records. I know they have many more indices that are not online yet, as they are waiting for funds.
You can contact the Konskie town leader Steven if you have any inquieries regarding specific people that you are looking for. He has helped me a lot regarding my research.

That's great news! Thanks for sharing.

As you can see from today's additions there are still many existing profiles on Geni that can be assigned to the Jewish Familes of Konskie Project. I only did a search on two to four family names and came up with 30 profiles. Thanks to the researchers that quickly followed the invitation to enter their profiles into the Project.
