Hi Kenneth and all, think we should create a project about Castle Garden NY too? All arrivals from 1855 to1890 where there.

Thanks Anne-Marie! You're always reading my mind!!

Please start it, Anne-Marie, and add me.

Great minds think a like Kenneth Kwame Welsh, (C). Will set something up ;)

Are you thinking of projects for immigrants who arrived through smaller ports during the Ellis Island period? Ancestors Port of Baltimore, 1905.

Super duper ideas & new projects!!! Great stuff! Looking forward to it! 😘💖

Erica, i want to see similar projects for Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc.

I don't have sources that's project worthy - just my individual guys.

Erica, that is a great place to begin... and see, what other collaborators, may have to add to these.

😉👍🏼😘💘

I don't start projects unless I have a source to reference. And I won't be able to look for one for a while: family health issues. So I'm looking for others to help find the sources. :)

Oh, hey, Erica... I am so sorry, to hear that, Dear. And I wish you all strength and the best of all things, that you get through this, in one piece. 🙏🏼💞

I will see what I can turn up, tomorrow. Maybe, I'll get lucky, for us. 🎈

Kenneth Kwame Welsh, (C) I am going to set up a Queenstown departures project, many Irish sailed from Queenstown to Ellis Island, all going well there should be a lot of profiles connected to both the Ellis Island and Queenstown projects

So, I've collected a bunch of interesting rescources on the immigration through Baltimore Harbor's, Port of Baltimore, not exclusive to, but also, including 1905.
Where should I put it all? (Did someone, create the basis project page or should I do this?)

If there is no base project yet we need one, but I will check
Sounds like Baltimore arrivals need a new project :)
Ships from Ireland also went to Baltimore, maybe I can hook in somewhere

Cool, Anne-Marie,

should it not be a sub- project to Before Ellis Island? and/or to this project, possibly, dealing with migrations and I believe, is the Main Project (Umbrella) for our Before Ellis Island project, too?

https://www.geni.com/projects/Emigration-from-Europe-Ports-of-Depar...

Just shoot me the link and an invitation and I'll put the resources in ther and (attempt) to organize it, in some logical fashion)

Possibly, we should set up a Ports of Arrival Umbrella, for the entire thing, we are building here and add Ellis Island and Before Ellis Island, as well as, the further "Port of..." projects, we are creating here, etc. ?

Before Ellis Island is mainly for the New York ports I reckon, so not the main US immigration port portal or main project.
Kenneth Kwame Welsh, (C) is there a main project for ports of arrival for the USA?
I have asked George J. Homs what the scope of the Emigration from Europe project is, it could be used as a main project for emigration for Europe. George?

Alrighty then... we call that "Funk Stille"/"Radio Silence" (indicating, a total absence of activity), in German. lol! I will also, just put it on hold, then, until something further... occurs.

Renee if you can search on projects in Geni on keywords perhaps immigration, ports, emigration (etc)

We had had discussions / projects some years back to try and organize / define them.

For the (say) 1850 - 1920 era I've mostly seen embarcation points from Liverpool and the other large English port cities, even for European origins. I think more Jewish origin is like my family: train across Europe, steamship from England. But you could check with the Jewish genealogists who will know best, perhaps by a query in that project.

There isn't a portal for Ports of Arrival.

I like all of the suggeations, Theresa, Anne-Marie, and Erica!!

I would also, suggest a "Ports of Arrival" Umbrella MAIN project, to collect the various sub- projects, we have been working on. There we can add the links to the various sub- projects, such as Ellis Island (and it´s various decades of record), as well as the, yet to be created, Port of Baltimore project, I´ve collected links for, Erica for. And whatever other Ports, we come up with under this Topic.

Agreed. USA - Ports of Arrival ?

Sounds good and total, yes! The addition of USA, makes it all much clearer and more specific, for the Geni member "outsider", looking upon.
Great addition, Erica! <3

Right, we need an overall International Port of arrivals umbrella project as there are several other countries with similar projects, Ireland & the Netherlands for example AND we need a Ports of arrival USA project to place all the different USA ports in correct?

That would be the grand picture of things, yes. By George, I think you/we've got it! 😉👍🏼🎈🎉

I am helping the Brazilian curators work on the same scheme. They already have projects for the various immigrants. (I just started the African slaves and immigrants to Brazil one).

I think Erica and Victar had started a Port of Arrivals (colonial) project?

That was George Homs and Sophie Williams.

That's a good page, nice and simple, good flow.

So a USA project should cover 1776 - current and also be set up geographically.

Might as well do Canada too. :)
