Clarence E. Hitz, 96, of Palmyra passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.
Born December 29, 1918 in Annville, he was a son of the late Adam and Elizabeth (Eckert) Hitz and was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Retired with 39 years from Hershey Meats, he was a self-employed dairy farmer and World War II U.S. Army veteran, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Lebanon VFW Post 23, long time, active member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church, and former member, president, and secretary of the Campbelltown Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years Dorothy M. (Weaber) Hitz; sons Clarence Eugene, husband of Mary Hitz of Hummelstown and Richard Bryan, husband of Joy Hitz of Harrisburg; sister June Evans of Palmyra; grandchildren Clarence E. Hitz, Jr., Christopher Hitz, Rebecca Gillaspy, and Scott Hitz; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2015 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM. Interment in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
