By popular demand, project list views now have the same sortable headings and advanced controls that other profile lists have. For some great examples of using the filters, try the Famous Olympians project list at http://www.geni.com/projects/Famous-Olympians/people/11994 and open the advanced controls, then select "living" and/or "female"!

Very nice! Export as CSV file option, too.

Got email:

Dear Erica,

Error exporting your address book on Geni

Kind regards,
- The Geni Team

We noticed the error and released a fix for the export... try again?

No mail ...

Fantastic! Thank you!

Got the mail, downloaded beautifully. The text of the message could use a tweak :

The address book you requested is now available for download from Geni.

Download it here:

Kind regards,

(replace address book)

I just used the new feature to find two profiles that are the same person (same user added them, but two years apart).

One question, what's the "profiles tagged" group supposed to be? And that's the only group I see. Do you intended to add "my blood relatives", "master profiles" later?

I think this is a bug: when enabling birthdate sort, dates before ~1700 seem to be random. Does anyone else see this? (for a project stretching that far back, take http://www.geni.com/projects/Cambridge-University-Alumni/people/16719 )

When sorting by name the sort uses "last name" but wouldn't sorting by "birth surname" instead be preferable in many cases?

How do I get it to sort names into alphabetical order?

From the front page of a project next click on the link "view all" to see the 1st page of all of the profiles tagged to a project. This "view all" link is displayed near the list of 5 profiles that are shown on the project page.

The program will switch to a list of all profiles tagged to the project and display 25 profiles per page. On this view you can click on the column heading labeled "Name" at the very top of the column to sort by "name."

As mentioned in a previous message it sorts by last name and not birth surname which in almost all cases is not what I personally prefer.

This new sort based and filter view with the ability to export a .csv file is a huge and much appreciated addition to geni for me and I'm grateful to the development team for adding this.

Oh wow: I did not know that we could do that. ( Now tell me it's been around for years :-))
Thank you - that's so useful.

No, it only exists since Mike started the post. It's a major feature that deserves to be on a banner on everyone's home page.

Yes, the implications are deep, and it takes projects to a whole new level. Do advertise the enhancement!

Re-posting to this announcement to give it current visibility in the message feed.
