request from Kay Osborn
Don't worry about the spelling of the name. On my great grandfather's will the surname was spelled 4 different ways. That was very common back in the the 1600-1700. Osbern, Osbyrn, Osborn, Osborne, Asborn, Asborne, Osbourn, Osbourne. No one could spell!
Joseph Osburn was born around 1775 and died after 1845. His first wife Rhoda Romine. b. 1779 d. @ 1840 Harrison Co. VA They were married 9/22/1796 in Fredrick Co, Va. His wife died and Joseph remarried to Mary'Polly' Grimm Bright she was born 1793 d. 1850 With Rhoda he had Isacc, Margaret, Archibald 1797, Phillip, Nancy, Joseph b. 12/4/1804, Aquilla, Wilson, and Jacob, There was a Phillip Osburn who people have assumed that he might be the oldest son of Joseph or perhaps a nephew living in the area. Joseph did not have any children with Mary. She had 9 children with her former husband Bright, who ran off and left his wife and children for another woman. Joseph was 70 years old when Mary's youngest son was 10. In Josephs will it read that his posessions would go to Mary, but if she would remarry then it would go to her Youngest son. Joseph did not leave any thing to his own kids in that will. HOWEVER, he did have another property and he might have left it to his other set of children. Joseph died about 1845 and is buried in Harrison County. There is no head stone.
IF any one knows who his parents are, please post it. Katieo4321@aol.com Kay
