"Geoffrey Mortimer (d. 1372x76), lord of Couhé, France. He played a vital political role alongside his father in the years 1328-30, and was arrested along with him in October 1330. He was not executed, however, but exiled for life. He removed himself to the lands in France that he inherited from his grandmother, styling himself seigneur de Couhé [en Poitou]. He married Jeanne de Lezay-Lusignan and had at least three children."

He was given robes of knighthood before 23 January 1327 and knighted on 31 January 1327¸ the eve of the coronation of Edward III.[1]

Roger de Mortimer, 1st Earl of March (25 April 1287 – 29 November 1330), Like many noble children of his time, Roger was betrothed young, to Joan de Geneville, the daughter of a neighbouring lord. They were married in 1301, and immediately began a family.

The marriages of Mortimer's children cemented Mortimer strengths in the West.

  1. Edmund Mortimer (1302–1331), married Elizabeth de Badlesmere, they had Roger Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March, who was restored to his grandfather’s title.
