Biography
Sarah Peasly was born on 20 September 1642 in Newbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Johnson) Peasley.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
In his abbreviated will dated 22 November 1660, Sarah's father, Joseph Peasly named his wife Mary; to daughter Sara (no surname) his house and lands at Salisbury; son Joseph; daughter Elesebete; daughter Joan; daughter Mary; grandchild Sarah "Saier" (Sayward). Wife Mary sole executrix. The will was attested on 9th : 2 mo : 1661 (09 Apr 1661. [2] The inventory of his estate, sworn to by widow/executrix Mary Peasly, is undated.[9]
Sarah married Thomas Barnard sometime before 12 Apr 1664 perhaps in Amesbury, Essex County.[3][4][5][7][8] This was the date of a court record that states that Thomas and Sarah were married. They were likely married by 22 Jan 1663/64 when their first child Thomas was born.[10]
Sarah Barnard died on 30 September 1732 in Amesbury.[11] Lamphere,[3] however gives her death date as 14 Sep 1736 in Amesbury aged 93.
The children of Thomas and Sarah (Peaslee) Barnard. the first born Salisbury, the rest in Amesbury:
Thomas Barnard, b. 22 Jan 1663/4 in Salisbury[10]
Sarah Barnard, [b. 22 Jan 1663/4 in Salisbury?][7] See Research notes
Joseph Barnard, b. ca. 1669 in Amesbury[12]
Hannah Barnard, b. 15 Apr 1671 in Amesbury[12]
Samuel Barnard, b. 10 Feb 1672 in Amesbury[12]
Nathaniel Barnard, b. 3 Jun 1675 in Amesbury[12]
Tristram Barnard, b. ca. 1678 in Amesbury[12]
Research Notes
Daughter Sarah is said by Hoyt[7] to have been born on 22 Jan 1663/4 in Salisbury, but her birth does not appear in the published records.[10] The date is suspicious as her brother Thomas is recorded with that date in Salisbury. Madison-125 05:55, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
