From the English Wikipedia page on Robert of Hesbaye (with an awful lot of conjecture thrown in):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_of_Hesbaye
Robert II, Rodbert or Chrodobert (770-807) was a Frank, count of Worms and Rheingau and duke of Hesbaye around the year 800.
His family is known as Robertians. His son is Robert of Worms and his grandson is Robert the Strong, the namegiver of the Robertians. Robert of Hesbaye is the oldest known ancestor in the line of Robertians that is thought to be certain. He is the great-grandfather of two Frankish kings, Odo and Robert, that ruled in the kingdom of Western Francia.
One of his descendants is Hugh Capet, who was the "last Frankish king" and the "first king of France". The descendants of Hugh Capet ruled France until the French Revolution, with a junior line having ruled Spain since 1700.
Ingerman and Cancor are possibly his brothers. Landrada, mother of Saint Chrodogang, archbishop of Metz, is likely his sister. His father may have been named Rodbert or, Chrodobert. He was likely the son of Thuringbert of Worms and Rheingau and grandson of Robert I of Worms and Rheingau, who died in 764.
Ermengarde, wife of emperor Louis the Pious was most likely his niece.

From the English Wikipedia page on Wormsgau:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wormsgau
The Wormsgau or pago wormatiensi was in the Middle Ages a county, which extended itself not only in the surroundings of the city of Worms, Germany, but concurrently along the Rhine widely in northern direction until short of reaching Coblenz. The city of Mainz belonged likewise to it as to the start of the 9th century also Boppard, which in reality ca. 825 was already lost again. In the 10th century the Wormsgau lost wide middlerhenish zones...
2nd Robertian Count in Wormsgau:
Robert II (Rutbert II o. Hruodbertus) (770 attested, † 12 July 807), Robert/Rupter I's grandson, 795/807 Count in Worms- and Oberrheingau, 795 Lord to Dienheim, ∞ I Theoderata (Tiedrada) (766/777 attested, † before 789), ∞ II Isengarde, 789

Robert "le Fort" (Rotbertus Fortis, Robert "the Strong")..........
Probable father: Robert, d. before 19 February 834, count in Wormsgau.
Probable mother: Waldrade (Wialdrut), living 19 February 834....
He was evidently the count Robert whose son Robert donated two manses in Mettenheim in 8367 [Codex Lauresh., 2: 306-7 (#1826), see above].
Attempts at further identification of this Robert suffer from the possibility of confusing different men with the same name. On 8 March 812, a count Rotbertus appears with several other counts in a court record of Charlemagne [MGH DD KdG, 289 (#216)]. ...
The cartulary of Lorsch shows a count Robert in Wormsgau on 12 June 795 ["... ego Rubertus comes ...", Codex Lauresh., 2: 236 (#1541)] and in Rheingau on 25 March 804 ["... signum Rutperti comitis, ..." ibid., 1: 318 (#222)] and on 20 February 807 ["... signum Rutperti comitis..." ibid., 1: 319 (#224)].
Glöckner would identify him as Robert "II" and make him the father of Robert "III" (with no direct evidence for the affiliation).
This Robert "II" would then be identified by Glöckner as "probably" the same as the Robert son of Turimbert who appears in the Lorsch cartulary in 769770 ["... ego Turinebertus, & filius meus Ruotpertus, ..." ibid., 1: 285 (#168)].
Although Turimbert does not have a title in the documents in which he appears, and Robert son of Turimbert also appears without a title,
Turincbert was the son of a count Robert "I", whose son Cancor and widow Williswinte founded Lorsch in 764 [see Glöckner (1936), 303-5; Codex Lauresh., 1: 2], which is why Glöckner would identify Turimbert's son as Robert "II" [Gl%C3%B6ckner (1936), 305].
On the other hand, Siegwart does not accept the identification of Robert "II" with Robert son of Turimbert, and instead makes Robert "II" the son of a Robert "I" (different from the Robert "I" of Glöckner), son of count Hnabi who was the maternal grandfather of Hildegard, wife of Charlemagne [Siegwart (1958), 157]....
count of Worms and of Rheingau, and duke of Hesbaye
He is the earliest known male-line ancestor of the French royal family (including the Capetians, the Valois and the Bourbons, all of them his male-line descendents), and the Spanish royal family.
Robert of Hesbaye is the earliest definitely known ancestor of family known as the Robertians. His son was Robert III of Worms and his grandson was Robert the Strong. Robert of Hesbaye was the great-grandfather of two Frankish kings, Odo and Robert, who ruled in the kingdom of Western Francia. One of Robert of Hesbaye male-line descendants was Hugh Capet, the founder of the French royal dynasty, which ruled France continuously until as late as 1848 (with a brief interregnum caused by the French revolution). A junior line has held the Spanish Crown since 1700; the current monarch Juan Carlos I and his family are direct descendants.
Robert of Hesbaye's father was likely the son of Thuringbert of Worms and Rheingau, and grandson of Robert I, Duke of Neustria (c. 697–764). It is known that the paternal ancestors of Robert I, Duke of Neustria ascended in line as follows: Lambert II, Count of Haspengau (c. 682–741) Chrodobertus II, Count of Haspengau (fl. 650) Lambert I de Haspengau (c. 620–650) Chrodobertus I de Haspengau (c. 600–630) Charibert de Haspengau (c. 555–636) Robert of Hesbaye's mother was possibly Princess Chrotlind, daughter of Theuderic III, Merovingian king of Austrasia. It is also possible that Ingerman and Cancor were brothers of Robert of Hesbaye. Landrada, mother of Saint Chrodegang, archbishop of Metz, is likely to have been his sister. Ermengarde, wife of emperor Louis the Pious was most likely his niece.
Robert II, also spelt Rodbert and Chrodobert (died about 807) was a Frankish nobleman who was count of Worms and of Rheingau and duke of Hesbaye around the year 800. He is the earliest known male-line ancestor of the French royal family called the Capetians (including the Valois and the Bourbons), and of other royal families which ruled in Portugal, Spain, and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
Descendants[edit]
Robert of Hesbaye is the earliest certain ancestor of the dynasty known as the Robertians. His son was Robert III of Worms, and his grandson was Robert the Strong. He was eventually the great-grandfather of two Frankish kings, Odo and Robert, both of whom ruled the kingdom of Western Francia.
One of Robert of Hesbaye's male-line descendants was Hugh Capet, the founder of the French royal dynasty which ruled France continuously until 1848, although with a brief interregnum caused by the French revolution and the First French Empire. A junior line has held the Spanish Crown since 1700; the current monarch Felipe VI and his family are direct descendants.
