About Pte. Daniel Hishon
Daniel Hishon was the son of Daniel and Florence Hishon, of Winton, Southland, New Zealand. Killed in action, France.
ROLL OF HONOUR - PRIVATE D. HISHON. Private Daniel Hishon who is reported to have been killed in action on May 4, enlisted in March, 1917, as a member of the 28th reinforcements. He was born at Winton 32 years ago and educated locally. He was the son of Mrs Daniel Hishon. Previous to enlisting he was a railway engine driver. He enlisted in the Wairarapa district and sailed with the 1st Wellington Infantry Brigade. Source: Southland Times (3 June 1918, p. 2).
