Discovered in 1879, the organism which caused gonorrea. Was given the first professorship of dermatology in Germany in 1907. Was a close colaborator to Paul Ehrlich. His house was built in 1898 in Fuerstenstrasse 124 in the Scheitninger Park in Breslau for himself and his wife which soon became a center of art and music.
Frequent guests of the house were the composers Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss. The house was decorated with paintings of the brothers Erler. The house was destroyed during World War 2.
