- see Leonie's story - 1940 escape, (7) of them; Leonie, Hedl, Stern and Wolf families
- Naturalization record - SS Guine ship Leonie arrived on 4/15/1941
Leonie shipped her belongings from Bellariastraße 4, Vienna apartment by train and "supposedly" the train was bombed in Belgium - and the items never arrived in USA. However, at least 2 items are in museums and are "currently" owned by them: 1) Vitrine in Leopold Museum, Vienna and 2) Clock in LACMA museum, Los Angeles - both items designed by Adolf Loos.
After fleeing the Nazis, Leonie her daughter Clarisse and Leonie's sister Sophie settled in Miami Beach. They lived (abt 1941-1959) in an Apartment building built by Sophie's son Otto Kary. To support her self, Leonie became the property manager of the building. When her sister Sophie became ill, they moved to New York for better care.
