Lady Annes de Turberville

Agnes was a daughter of Payne de Tirberville and his wife Gwenllian Talbot. Her eldest brother Gilbert inherited the familt lands, but his only son, Sir Gilbert de Turberville of Coyty/Coity Castle died without issue, so his uncle Richard de Turberville inherited Coity Castle. When Richard also died without issue, his sisters and their issue male became his heirs. His sister were 1. Katherine/Catrin de Turberville who married Sir Roger Berkerolles of East Orchard, 2. Margaret de Turberville who married Sir Richard Stackpole of Stockpole Elidor, 3. Agnes de Turberville who married John de la Bere of Weobley & 4. Sarah de Turberville who married Gilbert Gamage.

Unluckily for the family, but fortunately for genealogists, the male line of the de Turberville sisters "failed" one after the other, leading to complex inquisition Post Mortems to establish who the next heir was. Because of this, we know that John de la Bere's male line ended with his Great Grandson Thomas de la Bere who died in 1414 while still a minor. His daughter Elizabeth de la Bere who married into the St John family did leave heirs & they helped manage Thomas's lands.

The ultimate heir of the de Turberville lands was William Gamage, descendant of the 4th sister Sarah. www.findagrave.com

The lordship of Coity Castle in Wales fell to Agnes' son, Thomas de la Bere. It was held for him by the King while he was a minor. Thomas died on Oct 1414 while still a minor and the castle passed eventually to the Gamage family after serious family disputes.
