About Johann Georg Neiman
Not to be confused with John George Neuman, born in 1754. The other John George has his own stone in Quickel's Lutheran Cemetery. Since they were contemporaries, I presume they were likely first cousins, but this cannot be confirmed. It appears that sometime long ago, the two John Georges were confused, and their original parentage was conflated.
Note about parentage: Johann Georg is often attributed to Michael Neuman and Anna Elisabeth Schelling. But Schelling married Michael in 1766 and was therefore his second wife. First wife's maiden name is unknown.
Johann Georg was the son of Michael and Anna Elizabeth Neiman (Neuman). In about 1775 he married Maria Elizabeth Hake and they had 10 children:
Susanna (Daniel Jacoby, Sr.) John Jacob (Elizabeth Metzger) Maria Elizabeth (George Benedick) John George (1 Anna Mary Rupert 2 Kate Eisenhart) Michael Maria Catharine (John Jacoby) Anna Maria (Jacob Meisenhelder) Andrew (Anna Maria Kann) Rebecca Margaret (1 Peter Boose 2 David M. Meisenhelder) Johannes Inscription: Here rest the remains of Georg Neiman, he was born in the year 1750 on the first of September And died on the 24th of Sep- tember in the year 1810. His age was 60 years and 3 we- eks and 1 day. Batef (?) will go with you. You..(the rest is illegible due to grass)
