About Jean Pothier

Jean Pothier (1672-1724 ou 25). He Married Anne Poirier; Marie Madeleine Chiasson. He originated from the area of La Rochelle, France. Pierre Pothier (1714-1783), his son, married Marie Doucet. He came to Teboque Point in August 1740, among eight Acadian families from Annapolis Royal. There were four Doucet families and four other families bearing the names Landry, Petitot, Bertrand and Lavergne. Shortly after, the Hébert family arrived, accompanied by the family of Pierre Pothier. Dominique (1732-1818), son of Pierre Pothier, married Anne Surette and returned after the Deportation to settle here permanently. He is the ancestor of the Pothiers of Yarmouth County.
