About Hannah Holloway

Hannah Spiers Holloway made her will in Cumberland County on 9 May 1777 and died before it was probated on 28 Aug. 1780.

Cumberland County Will Book 2, p. 266

In the name of God Amen May 9th 1777 I Hannah Holloway of Cumberland County & parish of Littleton being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing memory (blessed be God for same) do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following to wit Imprimis I bequeath my soul to God & my body to the earth, to be buried in such decent & Christian like manner as to my exors (hereafter named) shall be thought mete & convenient & as touching such worldly estate as the Lord have been pleased to lend me I bequeath in manner followeth viz

Item I bequeath to James Minter all the money that shall or may be due me at the time of my decease from all or any person whatever to him & his heirs

I bequeath to my grand daughter Hannah Spiers Holloway one feather bed & furniture as it is at the time of my decease to her & heirs forever and lastly I nominate & appoint James Minter to be my whole & sole executor to see this my will fulfilled.

This last will & testament of Hannah Holloway deceased was exhibited in court by James Minter the executor therein named and the same was proved by the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said executor who made oath according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon he with Samuel Holloway has security entered into bond according to law.
