A date of death has not been identified for Gilbert Waddrope, here treated. He seems still to have been alive on 14 June 1638, when his eldest son James was enrolled as a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow, Glasgow Burgess, 1573-1750: p. 99 but he was dead when his son-in-law Andrew Brown was enrolled as a burgess and guild brother on 27 December 1649. The Testament Dative and Inventory of his first wife Jeane Broun
On 19 November 1610 the Testament Dative of the deceased Jeane Broun was given up by her husband, Gilbert Woddrope, cordiner burgess of Glasgow. It was given up in name and behalf of Jeane's only son, Walter Woddrope. Thomas Gray, tailor burgess of Glasgow, acted himself as cautioner for Gilbert Woddrope and confirmation was granted to him on 28 January 1611. Critical Commentary by Neil Reid Ford: The birth date suggested for Gilbert Woddrope is speculative. The death date claimed for him is completely wrong. Margaret Kincaid did not change her surname when she married Gilbert Woddrope. She was Margaret Kincaid all the days of her life.
