About Fortunato Halili

Gov. Fortunato Halili was appointed Governor of Bulacan when President Roxas was elected president of the Philippines. He won again as governor after two years. His major achievement was the rapid recovery of the Philippines from the throes of war. The provincial capitol was rehabilitated at the cost of P 121, 800.00. Among those also rehabilitated were the Angat elementary school, Hagonoy waterwoods, schools in Norzagaray, Obando, San Jose and San Miguel.

In addition, 13 kilometers of road between Apalit and Malolos, 2 kilometers of Bulualto, San Jose and 29 kilometers of Valenzuela-Malolos were also repaired. Likewise bridges in Calumpit, Plaridel, Meycauayan, Bocaue, and Sta. Maria were also constructed.

Two public schools in San Miguel and Sta. Maria were established.

Health was given ample attention with the repair of the administration building of the Bulacan Provincial Hospital and the Hagonoy Puericulture Center and the improvement of the waterworks systems of Hagonoy, Paombong, Malolos, Bulacan, Bocaue, San Miguel and Obando.

The Bulacan branch library was established during his time.

Funds for the following were released during his time: Paombong market- Php 13,481.25, San Miguel Emergency Hospital- Php 150,000, Baliuag Municipal Building – Php 100,000.
