Occupation: School teacher Immigrated to Adelaide Australia 1839 on barque "Prince Regent" and then Hobart Tasmania where William was born then moved to Bothwell where Emmeline was born. Edward, Fanny [Snooke] and their son Edward apparently came to Australia because of Fanny's health (no idea where this information came from!) Arrived at Glenelg in South Australia on the "Prince Regent" on 25.9.1839. Edward continued on to Tasmania on the Isabella on 17 6 1842, and was followed by Fanny and child on the "Princess of Denmark" 9 10 1842. They settled firstly in Hobart town, and then Bothwell. May have had a son Archibald Gregory in about 1840 in South Australia. The baby apparently died.


  • Fanny Snook was born on the 16th July 1812 at Bath, Somerset to Charles Snook and his wife Phoebe James. She was baptised on the 12th August 1812 at St James, Bath.
  • On the 16th January 1836 at St James, Bath, she married Edward Gregory.
  • In 1839, the family [Edward Gregory, wife Fanny & 2 sons] emigrated to Australia on board the Prince Regent.
  • 1831 South Australian Register Saturday 21 August 1841 "Births- on the 3rd August, Mrs Gregory, Rundle street, of a daughter"
  • In 1841 the census shows them living in Rundle Street, Adelaide, South Australia.
  • Edward continued on to Tasmania on the Isabella on 17 6 1842, and was followed by Fanny and child on the "Princess of Denmark" 9 10 1842. They settled firstly in Hobart town, and then Alexander & Barracks Street, Bothwell.
  • 1898 Her death notice in The examiner 3.10. 1898 "GREGORY On the 19th September at the State School Iveridge, Frances Gregory aged 86 years"
  • 1898 Her death certificate said "19.9.1898 at Blackwood Creek- Fanny Gregory - Born- England - Widow of Edward Gregory (Currier) . Informant was E I Gregory, Grandson, Scottsdale.
