Euphrosyne Kastamonitissa

Euphrosyne was the wife of Andronikos Doukas Angelos (and Alexios III Angelos), and mother of the emperors Isaac II Angelos.

Euphrosyne and Alexios III Angelos died in Arta, Greece in the year 1211-1212). Alexios III Angelos (c. 1153 – 1211), raised to sebastokrator by his brother Isaac II Angelos, usurped the throne from him in 1195. Generally an inept and pleasure-loving ruler, he reigned until he fled before the attacks of the Fourth Crusade happening in the year1203. Theodoros Kastamonites is NOT Euphrosyne*s father. Please read biological father as: Andronikos Doukas Kamateros, Duke of the Byzantine Empire. Born ca 1108 in Constantinople, died 1176.

Wife I. Theodora Kalusine Kantakouzene and maybe the very young biological mother of Euphrosyne. According to official data Theodora Kalusine and her sister, Anna Komnene is the half-sister of Alexios III Angelos with the same father Konstantine Angelos.

Vivió entre (c.1125-1190), hija de Teodoro Kastamounites. Casó antes de 1155 con Andronikos Dukas Angelos, que nació hacia el año 1122, en Constantinopla, Bizancio. Murió el 2-XII-1185. Tuvieron por hijos a: 1) Juan (príncipe de Bizancio), 2) Alexios III (emperador de Bizancio, e 3) Isaac II Angelos, emperador de Bizancio, que nació, en Constantinopla, hacia 1156. Murió el 28-I-1202/1203, ejecutado. Casó con Irene Comnene.

Andronikos Dukas Angelos, a military leader in Asia Minor (c. 1122 – aft. 1185), married bef. 1155 Euphrosyne Kastamonitissa (c. 1125 – aft. 1195), was a son of Theodora Komnene (b. January 5, 1096/1097), the youngest daughter of Emperor Alexios I Komnenos and Eirene Doukaina, by her marriage c. 1120 to Konstantinos Angelos, Admiral of Sicily (c. 1085 – aft. July 1166)

Alexios III Angelos was the second son of Andronicos Angelos and Euphrosyne Castamonitissa. Andronicus was himself a son of Theodora Comnene, the youngest daughter of Emperor Alexios I Komnenos and Irene Ducaena.
