Elizabeth Morse

Elizabeth was the daughter of Lancelot Jasper and Rose Shepard. She married Samuel Morse on June 29, 1602 in Redgrave, Suffolk, England. They emigrated to America with seven children on the ship "Increase" that left England April 15, 1635. They had seven children: John, Daniel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Samuel, Sarah and Mary.

2. Elizabeth Morse (1605–1643) bp 6 MAR 1605 Redgrave, Suffolk, England, Death 02 OCT 1643 [Stevens-Miller Anc 17] Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts. She married by about 1631 Robert Daniel (NEHGR 88:383-86, 89:154).
3. John Morse (1607–1657) bp 28 FEB 1607/8 Redgrave, Suffolk, England, [Stevens-Miller Anc. 17] Death 26 MAY 1657 Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. He married Annis ____(eldest child born 3 Jun 1637 [DeVR 1]) In 1946 G Andrews Moriarty argued that she was no Annis Chickering (NEHGR 100:79).
4. DANIEL MORSE, b. say 1610; Massachusetts Bay, freeman 6 May 1635 (as Dan[ie]ll Morse," first in a sequence of three Watertown men) [MBCR 1:371]; m. by 1639 Lydia Fisher (eldest known child b. Dedham 8 August 1639 [DeVR 1]), daughter of ANTHONY FISHER {.1637, Dedham} [NEHGR 151:182-83]. (In his will of 9 March 1687[/8], Daniel Morse twice mentioned land that I purchased of my brother Daniel Fisher” [Wm. Inglis Morse (and Mary Lovering Holman), Genealogiae or Data Concerning the Families of Morse, Chipman, Phinney, Ensign and Whiting (Boston 1925), 10-11 , citing MPR 10:316].)
5. JOSEPH MORSE, bp. Redgrave, Suffolk, 2 May 1613 [Stevens-Miller Anc 17]; m. Dedham l September 1638 Hannah Phillips [DeVR 126].
6. SARAH MORSE, bp. Burgate, Suffolk, 25 August 1616 [Stevens-Miller Anc 17]; no further record.
7. MARY MORSE, bp. Burgate, Suffolk, 13 August 1620 [Stevens-Miller Anc 18]. She married in Dedham 10 August 1641 Samuel Bullen [DeVR 126].

Disputed children

• They supposedly had another child: Eleanor Helena who was born in 1616 and died in 1694. Not listed by Anderson.
• According to Anderson, earlier genealogies were in error about there being a son named Thomas. The record cited for son Thomas were actually for the father. Detached Thomas Morse
• Anderson does not show a son Jeremiah. Detached Jeremiah Morse
• Anderson does not show a daughter Abigail. Detached Abigail Fisher

Notes

George W. Bush is descended from Elisabeth's daughter Mary

In 1635 she lived in Watertown Mass. Might have died in Medfield Ma.

They were members of the First Church at Dedham, MA. They lived in Watertown in 1635, Dedham in 1636 and Medfield, 1651.
