About Elizabeth Gray
Biography
Elizabeth Jarrett, daughter of Richard Jarrett and his wife Margery, was born about 1642 in Surry County and died 23 February 1701 in York County.
She married William Gray, who was the son of Thomas Gray, The Ancient Planter.
Elizabeth Jarrett was married to William Gray about 1673. Her father, Richard Jarretts will signed July 1672 lists her as just Elizabeth Jarrett and leaves property to her- indicationg that she was unmarried (or her husband would have inherited her share). The distribution of the Richard Jarrett's estate in Jan 1673 gives her portion to William Gray, indicating they are married by then.
William's 1719 will listed their children: William, Gilbert, Mary, Faith (Ruffin), and Priscilla.
William Gray and Elizabeth Jarrett had the following children:
- Sheriff William Gray, II (m. Mary Crawford)
- Elizabeth? Gray (m. William Andrews)
- Lucy? Gray (m. John Edwards)
- Faith Gray (m. William Ruffin)
- Mary Gray (m. William Edmunds)
- Priscilla m. Cpt. Thomas Hill
- Gilbert Gray
