Brashear of North Carolina and Some Descendants in TN, KY, MO, TX, etc., by Charles Brashear; page 82: About 1755, Jesse Brashears married Elizabeth Prather, surely (though no record is extant) at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, in Orange (now Guilford) Co, NC, where his father was a member. Elizabeth Prather, b. 6 May 1739, Anne Arundel Co, Maryland, d/o Philip Gittings Prather and Margery Hunt (Cancery Paper #2617, Land Office, Annapolis, MD). There is, however, a curious, (second) marriage record. Elizabeth Prather, m. Jesse Brashear, 8 Dec 1760, in Escambia Co, Florida (Book 1, p.104), according to Marriage Records of People Named Prather, Prater, Prator, Praytor, comp. by. Anna M. Cartlidge, Baltimore, MD, 1976, p.16. This abstract of the record identifies her as the daughter of Philip Gittings Prather.
