This article MR. E. H. LEVETT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MARTON, Saturday. The death occurred at Bulls this morning of Mr. Edward HarryLevett, a well known Rangitikei resident. Born at Staffordshire, England, Mr. Levett was the second son of the late Captain C. R. Levett, Ist King's Dragoon Guards. He went through college with the intention of taking up a military career, but after some, years' service he resigned his post in the Army and sailed for New Zealand in the ship Wailangi in 1881. He took up farming in the Rangitikei district for about ten years and later entered the commercial firm of Gorton and Son, founded by the late Colonel Gorton, and now known as Levin and Company. Mr. Lcvett always took an active interest in sport and in his younger days was a capable athlete. Ho was a life member of the Rangitikei Racing Club, the Rangitikei Rugby Union, the "Bulls Bowling Club and tho Rangitikei Football Club. For many years he was a member of tho Bulls Town Board and in 1897 was treasurer. Mr. Lovett was a prominent member of tho Rangitikei Masonic Lodge. His services in connection with the Anglican Church 's vicar's warden extended over 40 years. Mr. Levelt is survived by bis wife, who is a daughter of the late Colonel Gorton, and two daughters.
