Samuel Sewall journal dated February 8 and 9th, 1689 gives a very graphic account of this attack upon Schenectady, sent by the mayor of Albany to our government, is preserved in the Massachusetts archives and printed in "Andros Tracts," 111. 114-120 - EDS.

February 8 and 9th, 1689 Schenectady, a village 20 miles above Albany, destroyed by the French. 60 Men, Women, and Children murdered. Women with Child ripped up, Children had their brains dashed out. We're surprised about 11 or 12 o'clock, Saturday night, being divided, and secure.

In Storm of Snow that then fell Skipper Doty, his son, John and Elkanah Watson, were cast away on Barnstable Bar. Bodies not found, and it's feared they are murdered by a free Negro and Indians.
