'Chronicles' reports that "The possession by the family of De la Hoese (or Huse) for many generations, of the Manor of Rowedone, in Wilts, as also of several other estates in the same county, e.g. Parva Sutton, Stapleford, Ficheldon, Sydecumb, Chippenham, &c., forms conclusive evidence of the descent of this family from Walter Hosatus, of Domesday, until the fourteen century".
