Besides Philip III, who succeeded his father as lord of Maldegem and Leischoot, there were three more children from the marriage of Philip II and Elisabeth Belle, namely Agnes, mentioned in June 1275 (C. Dehaines and J. Finot: Invent. Chambre des comptes de Lille, 1899-1906, I, pp. 269, B. 402); Katelijne, also mentioned in June 1275 (ibid., loc. cit.); the plans for her marriage to Thomas van Rijsel fell through and on November 12, 1285 she was already married to Jan van Lille. Schelderode, lord of Ingelmunster (Our Lady of Doornik, cartul. D, fol. 304 verso - 305 verso. - Maldeghem la Loyale, p. 401); she is listed as "nobilae" (Our Lady of Tournai, cartul. D, fol. 300 recto and verso); and finally Willem or Wouter, who is said to have been married to Maria van Gavere (Mme de Lalaing, p. 239-240) and had two children: Philip and Elizabeth (id.). Jan van Schelderode and Willem van Maldeghem were both among the brave knights of their time, who shared the captivity of Count Guy de Dampierre in France. (Le Glay: Hist.
