Catherina Barbara Simon, daughter of Johan Michael Simon and wife Anna Ottillia Schmeltzer, was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1770, and baptized there. She died February 27, 1827 in Mahoning County, Ohio. She is buried near her husband in what is now Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.
Some records show Catherina's name as Anna Simon, some as Catherine Anna Barbara Simon and most show her as Catherine Barbara Simon. On her tombstone her name is given as Catherina Barbara. The frequent use of "Anna" in sources about her could be refer to a nickname, or could be a confusion between Catherine and her mother Anna.
Catherina married George Zercher, the son of Christopher Zurcher and wife Margaretha Falkenstein. He was born February 27, 1766, possibly in Maryland. He died in Mahoning County, Ohio, on January 21, 1831. He is buried at what is now Lake Park Cemetery, in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. They had 14 children.
One source shows an additional marriage to a Mr. Fohr. This marriage is unproven and unlikely, as she married George at age 16, and died while married to George.
