Captain Benjamin Kilgore assisted in establishing American Independence while serving under Colonel Williams regiment in 96th South Carolina District. Captain Kilgore served with his regiment until captured. He escaped and assumed command of his regiment when his superior officer was killed in action. He died on a trip betw/G'ville, SC & Livingston, KY; buried there in an unknown place.
