About Austrigusa of the Gepids
Austrigusa was a Gepid princess, but her father is unknown. The power struggles among the leading Gepid families make it difficult to speculate about her father. She might have been a daughter of Elemund, who ruled the Gepids 535-548. Alternatively, she might have been a sister (or perhaps daughter) of Thurisind, who overthrew Elemund's son and ruled 548-circa 560.
Waccho probably married her for political advantage. If so, the date of their marriage (512) might indicate she was the daughter of an earlier ruler. She could have been a granddaughter of Ardaric (died circa 460) or a daughter of Trasericus (fl. 505) or of Mundonus.
Her name, Austrigusa, suggests she might have had a maternal connection to the Ostrogoths.

Om Austrigusa of the Gepids (Norsk)
Austrigusa, Gepid prinsesse
