Anne is explicitly named as the second daughter of William Brewese, and wife of Sir Roger Towneshend (sic) in an Inquisition Post Morten held 19 October, 6 Henry VII (1490). She was aged 15 and more, which puts her birth about 1475.[1]

Sir Roger Townsend married Anne Brewes, the daughter and co-heir of William Brewes of Stinton Hall in Norfolk. Anne's grandfather Sir Thomas Brewes had been High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk in 1438 and 1442 and she was a descendant of the ancient Barons Braose of Bramber who settled in England with William the Conqueror.
