About Anna van Beulen, SM
- BAPTISM:https://www.eggsa.org/sarecords/index.php/church-registers/cape-tow... Anna van de Kaap also known as Anna van der Heyde, was born in bondage to the VOC c.1687-1693, daughter of Company slave Christijn Pietersz van de Kaap. Her biological father is presumed to have been Jacobus van der Heijde on account of her surname.
She was possibly the child baptised 16 August 1693: "een kint van Cristijn van de Caep gent Anna halfslagh". NGK G1 1/1, Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, Kerken Boek (Bapt.): 1693.
Anna was manumitted at her own request in 1715, stating that she had been a slave for 28 years at the Cape and had been baptised. In exchange for herself she offered the Company a healthy male slave named Alexander van Malabar. Her request was approved, and she married the burgher Jan Jans van Bollen/Beulen on 26 Nov. 1719.

Biography Previously Anna van de Caap, manumitted slave. Manumitted her daughter Anna, in 1724 in exchange of the slave January of Malabar.
By Petrus Zeelie: (also see http://e-family.co.za/ffy/g12/p12541.htm. and https://archive.org/details/precisarchivesc01librgoog/page/n10/mode...) Anna van der Heyde also was known as:
- Anna van de Caep Van Christina; and
- Anna V.d.K. She was born in bondage in the Slave Lodge before 16 Aug 1693 (the date she was baptised) where she was indicated as “een kint van Cristijn van de Caep gent Anna halfslagh”). Her year of birth probably was 1691, as she was manumitted when she was 28, which probably took place before she got married in 1719.
She married Von Böllen on 26 November 1714 , and had three children out of wedlock (“voorkind”) which included Anna Van Beulen V.d.K. As all three children were born out of wedlock and Anna Van der Heyde was a slave at the time, the children were all born in bondage. Anna van der Heyde was referred to as a ”halfslag” when she was baptised on 16 August 1693, which at the time meant that she was of mixed race [S397]. She had a daughter, also named Anna (“Anna van Beulen”) who was born in bondage while Van der Heyde was a slave at the Slave Lodge . At the time when Van der Heyde got married her daughter Anna van Beulen was still an infant, being a mere 9 months old, and when the child was 9 years old, she still stayed in the Slave Lodge. After 9 years since the child was born Van der Heyde asked the VOC that she be manumitted so that she can be better brought up, and offered to give a healthy slave named January of Malabar (No.99) in exchange.
