notes
From " Francis Walker of Middleboro MA and Woodbridge NJ"
In the Woodbridge town records there is shown 5 children born to Francis and Ann Walker. We have to rely on the transcription, as the original film in the LDS library is unreadable. For transcription see Attachment I. This shows 5 children born to Francis and Ann between 1684 and 1693. Unverified, but it has been said that Henry Freeman called Francis his brother making Ann Freeman his mother. It is unlikely that Ann Freeman is the mother of all 5 children as she did not arrive in the colonies until late 1682/83 and at that time her husband died. (Also, unverified.) That would not have given her the amount of time needed to properly mourn her husband, move to Woodbridge, and meet and marry Francis Walker in time to have been the mother of Jonathan Walker who was born 14 Oct 1684. Jonathan, David and Ann are born 2 years apart and then 3 years later Francis is born 1693 followed by Martha born 1696. In looking at the birth interval, and given the fact that Francis and Martha are the only children mentioned by the Francis X Walker it must be concluded that the other Francis also married an Ann. This would also account for the confusion as to whom did Francis Walker marry. IE> Ann Wells, Ann Freeman, or Ann Wells Freeman as some would have us believe. This fact alone could quite easily have led to all the confusion as to who Francis Walker.
