Anne Gallagher was tried in 1838 at Londonderry and sentenced to seven years transportation for vagrancy. She was transported aboard the ship ‘Whitby’ and was described as a single, Catholic kitchen maid, native place Tyrone and was aged 19 on arrival.

In the colony, Ann married William Fraser Morgan in 1843. Register of Convict Applications to Marry: William Morgan, 42, native of the colony. Ann Gallagher, 24, Whitby, bonded.
William was the son of William Morgan (NSW Corps, Neptune, 1790) and Eleanor Redchester (First Fleet Convict, Charlotte, 1788). William was a widower, with 6 children when he married Ann. Ann and William had 4 children between 1843 and 1849.
