About Andrew B. Means, I

Andrew Means was a Private who fought in the North Carolina Line during the Revolutionary War. His grave also bears a plaque mounted by the DAR.

Means Cemetery in Clay County is located on Stockdale Road just a few miles north of Liberty on H-69. You can only turn one way on Stockdale Road so can't get lost. Continue on Stockdale Road until you cross the railroad overpass and you have arrived. The cemetery will be on your left. There is a tombstone there for Andrew Means, Sr. that DAR put up, bacause they wanted something to mark. But old Andrew isn't there! According to the early material given by older members of our group Andrew was living with his son, Ahijah at the time of his death and was buried on Ahijah's farm. This was still in Clay Co. but further north of Liberty.
