Amos Thatcher, age 78 years, filed his declaration for pension on 8 July 1833 in Preble County, Ohio stating he was born 29 May 1755* in Hunterdon Co NJ. He was drafted in fall of 1775 at Kingswood twp, Hunterdon Co NJ in the militia under Capt Groendyke for two months. In the fall of 1776 he was again drafted for a five month tour under Capt Johnson, serving as a spy. He was again drafted in the New Jersey Milita under Capt John Derick serving as a waggoner and spy serving 14 months. He then removed to Bedford Co Pennsylvania where he was drafted for a 7 months tour under Capt. Moore where they guarded the frontier against Indians. Certificate of pension issued 9 January 1834.

His widow, Jemima Thatcher applied for a pension in Clinton County, Indiana on the 14th of November 1839 stating that she was 75 years on 26th May next, that she married Amos Thatcher on 22 January 1783 in Fayette Co, Pennsylvania by a Mr. Griffin, Minister of the Gospel. That Amos Thatcher died in Preble County, Ohio on 25th of June 1834* Jesse Thatcher, son, born 23 December 1785 and Lewis Price, 34 years on 17 November 1839 attested to information given by Jemima in her declaration. Jemima furnished as proof annexed the following information on her children by Amos Thatcher.
