Biography Rev. Thomas Genge, vicar of St. Mary's wrote the following obituary in the church records at Alice's death in 1599:

"Alice Bartlett, The only wife of Robert Bartlett deceased, kept great hospitality in this parish fifty years, eight months and eight days, all of which time the poor wanted no necessary sustenance either in sickness or health.

She departed this life the 10th day of March to the grief of many in this world but to the joy of many in Heaven, in the year of Our Lord as above written." ~Parish Registers- Puddleton, Dorset
