Ali Ghito

Ali Ghito was born as Adelheid Schnabel-Fürbringer in Zeulsdorf. She recieved an acting education and singing lessons as well. Beside it she also studied medicine and psychology.

She married an architect as a very young woman and her daughter was born in 1926.

She began her artistic career at the theater in Stenden in 1930, later followed engagements in Berlin.

She made her film debut in 1932 with the movies "Kavaliere vom Kurfüstendamm" and "Acht Mädels im Boot"

The film industry offered her only seldom a platform for her acting abilities. Till the end of war she took part in the movies "Der Schimmelreiter" , "Kitty und die Weltkonferenz" , "Carl Peters", "Quax in Afrika", and "Ruf an das Gewissen"

During World War II she was also active as a nurse.
As well, as being the first radio broadcaster of psychological warfare from, General Eisenhower’s main headquarters in Europe at the close of the war.

After the war she retired from the film business.

When she became married to the writer Hans Habe in 1946 it was already her third marriage. This marriage failed as well since Habe began an affair with the actress Eloise Hardt. Habe got divorced in Mexico in 1948 which was without legal capacity and then married Hardt immediately afterwards, Ali Ghito accused him of bigamy. The scandal was also printed in the magazine "Stern".

In 1939 she moved to United States then Taos New Mexico in 1957.

In Taos, she became a grade school reading teacher. Taught singing classes and choral groups. Gave teenage girls lessons in etiquette. Taught Dalcroze gymnastics. Taught classes for children with special needs.

Ali directed and appeared in dramatic productions in Princeton, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, and Taos, New Mexico.

She taught French and German at the Air Force College in Amarillo, Texas. As well as teaching language in Taos. She wrote a column on foreign relations, called Atlantic Bridge for the Amarillo Globe news.

In Amarillo, Texas, she was associated with the musical arts Conservatory. She exhibited her paintings with the Texas arts league.

She died in Santa Fe in April 29 1983.
