Notes for Alexander Doig: Alexander Dog was a tailor in Tarvett, Parish of Inverarity, Angus. Alexander Dog, registered 18 June 1596 in the St. Andrews Commissary Court. Testament dative of Alexander Dog, tailor in Tarvett, parish of Inverarity and sheriffdom of Forfar, who died intestate on 12 March 1590 given up by Thomas Dog, his lawful son, for himself and in name of John and James Dog, his brothers, as executors dative decerned to the defunct. Inventory - two cows, two old mares, oats, bear (barley), personal possessions - all worth £89 13s 4d. No debts owing to the defunct. Debts owing by the defunct - to three servants for fees: to the laird of the land for rent - all totalling £19. To be divided in three. Captain David Bellie and George Dog, flesher in St. Andrews, acted as cautioners.
