Alexander Cameron, Free Settler "Brilliant" 1838

Biography

Alexander CAMERON was born in 1799 in Ardnamurchan. His parents were Donald CAMERON and Ann McPHERSON) CAMERON.

Alexander married Catherine MCPHERSON on March 3, 1828 in Ardtoe, Ardnamurchan, Scotland. Together they had the following children:

• 1829 Donald ; married Catherine MARTIN
• 1830 Allan ; married Anne ELLIOTT
• 1832 Ewan Hugh ; married Martha Sophia ELLIOTT
• 1833 Duncan ; married Bridget TIERNEY
• 1836 Alexander died young

Alexander, his wife and children accompanied his father and step-mother and siblings to Australia, arriving in Sydney on "Brilliant" on 2 January 1838

After arriving in Australia Alexander and Catherine had the following children

• 1838 John Alexander died young;
• 1839 Dugald ; died young
• 1840 Ann died young
• 1843 Jane ; died young
• 1849 John married Miriam SHOESMITH
• 1849 Charles died young

He died on June 28, 1877.

At his death his children were listed as Allan 48, Ewan 44, Duncan 42, John28, living 3 males, 2 females deceased.

When Alexander And Catherine emigrated on the Brilliant they had 5 sons; Donald 10, Allan 8, ewan 6, Duncan 4, Alexander 2.

In 1839 they were living in Phoenix Park near Morpeth when John was born
