About Adam J. Wise, II
"Adam and Elizabeth Wise deeded the land for St. Michael's Church. Adam Wise served in the War of 1812, as a private in Captain John Snapp's division and then Captain Ralph A. Layar's Company of the Virginia Militia. Adam's name appears on a roll receipt showing he was paid for the period of September 2, 1813 to November 19, 1813."
