Abraham Goad (b. Apr 11, 1740, d. Jan 08, 1816)

Abraham Goad (son of John Goad and Katherine Jennings) was born Apr 11, 1740 in Brunswick, Lunenburg County, Virginia, and died Jan 08, 1816 in Scott County, TN. He married Anne Ayers in 1764 in Carroll County, VA, daughter of Nathaniel Ayers and Rhoda Baker.

Abraham went to Tennessee in 1802 and settled on a farm in Anderson County in an area that in 1806 became a part of the newly formed Campbell County.With him came Joshua Ayers; Thomas Phillips and Robin Lawson and their wives, the latter daughters of Abraham. Abraham settled at the foot of Black Oak Ridge at what is now Fountain City, then known as Fountain Head. He lived there for 6 or 7 years and sold his place to Mr. Hall.

Abraham was buried on his farm, now the oldest grave yard in the county.
